The experimental instrument for measuring liquid conductivity is a kind of basic physics experimental teaching instrument with rich physical ideas, ingenious experimental methods, many training contents of experimental hands-on ability, and practical application value. The sensor used in the instrument is composed of two iron-based alloy rings, each ring is wound with a group of coils, and the turns of the two groups of coils are the same, forming a hollow mutual inductance liquid conductivity measurement sensor. The sensor is connected with low frequency sinusoidal alternating current, and the sensing electrode is not in contact with the liquid to be measured, so there is no polarization around the sensor. The conductivity meter composed of the mutual inductance sensor can measure the conductivity of liquid accurately and can be used continuously for a long time. The liquid conductivity automatic measuring instrument based on this principle has been widely used in the fields of petroleum, chemical industry and so on.

Functions

1. Understand and demonstrate the working principle of the mutual inductive liquid conductivity sensor; acquire the relationship between the sensor output voltage and liquid conductivity; and understand the important physical concepts and laws such as Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction, Ohm’s law and the principle of the transformer.

2. Calibrate the mutual-inductive liquid conductivity sensor with precise standard resistors.

3. Measure the conductivity of the saturated saline solution at room temperature.

4. Acquire the relationship curve between the conductivity and temperature of the salt water solution (optional).
